Getting started

Kurato documentation

Kurato is a WordPress theme for photographers, filmmakers, artists, and motion designers. It shows a portfolio as a film timeline: a reel instead of a grid.

This documentation explains every step, from uploading the theme to changing the last setting. You do not need to write code. Each step has a screenshot, and the red numbers on a screenshot match the numbered list under it.

What you get#

  • The Kurato theme, with a child theme for your own changes.
  • Kurato Core, the companion plugin. It adds projects, 70 sections, widgets, the demo import, and the shop extras. It is required, and it is included in the download.
  • 70 sections. Each one is a block in the WordPress block editor and a widget in Elementor.
  • 3 demos (artist, photographer, and motion designer) with 33 home pages, 11 for each demo.
  • A WooCommerce shop with a slide-out cart, quick view, and a wishlist.
  • Day and night modes, right-to-left language support, and a translation file.

Live demos#

See each demo before you import it:

DemoAddressOpens in

Photographerkurato.jawad.work/photographer/Day mode
Motionkurato.jawad.work/motion/Night mode

The photographs, paintings, and films in the live demos are for the preview only. They are not in the download. When you import a demo, placeholder images take their place. The names, clients, and festivals in the demos are made up.

Plugins#

All optional plugins are free, from the WordPress plugin directory. Kurato never needs Elementor Pro.

What is in the download#

Unzip the file you downloaded from ThemeForest. Inside you find:

File or folderWhat it is
kurato.zipThe theme. This is the file you upload to WordPress.
kurato-child.zipThe child theme, for your own code changes.
plugins/kurato-core.zipThe Kurato Core plugin. The theme carries a copy too and offers to install it, so you usually do not need this file.
documentation/This documentation. Open index.html in a browser. It works without an internet connection.
licenses/The license texts for the theme, the plugin, the fonts, and the scripts.
changelog.txtWhat changed in each version.
readme.txtA short version of the install steps.
Upload kurato.zip, not the whole download

The file from ThemeForest is a package. If you upload it to WordPress as a theme, WordPress says "The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet." Unzip it first and upload kurato.zip.

Help and support#

If something does not work, read Troubleshooting first. Most problems are there with their fix. If your question is not answered, see Support.
