Motion and 3D designer

Noa Calder

9 Years in 3D

Noa Calder (they/them) designs motion for labels, festivals, and brands. They light every scene as if it were real, and they render on two machines under one desk.

A clay-colored set with a curved wave wall, a stone ball, and a small plant.

Noa started with music videos for friends' bands in 2017, rendered on a laptop that had to cool down between frames. The studio opened in 2019.

Before 3D, Noa studied stage lighting, and it still shows: every scene is lit from real sources, and nothing glows without a reason. The work moved from bands to labels, then to festivals and brands that wanted motion with the same care as a set.

The studio is one person on purpose. Noa writes the treatment, builds the scene, lights it, animates it, and delivers it, and brings in Iris Mallow for sound. Friday afternoons are kept free for personal studies, which is where most of the paid work starts.

On light

I light a render the way a stage is lit. One source at a time, each with a job, and nothing that glows without a reason. If a client can feel the room, they will believe the object. If they can believe the object, they will remember the brand.

Noa Calder, studio notes, 2026

White vaulted arches open to a bright blue sky.

A building that does not exist

Quiet Rooms for Fenwick Lowe, lit by the real sun path of the site.

    Opening titles

Ninety seconds of light to open the Nightwater Festival.

Reviews and features
  • 5 out of 5 stars

    Light you can believe.

The Nightwater titles do something rare: every streak of light has a source, and you can feel it.

    Frame Rate Weekly Lena Osk
  • 4.5 out of 5 stars

A studio of one, at full scale.

Calder works alone and it does not show, except in how consistent every frame is.

  • 4 out of 5 stars

    Quiet, and better for it.

Quiet Rooms sells a building by showing almost nothing. It works.

    Plan and Section Maud Arlen
  • The loop, perfected.

You will not find the seam. We tried for ten minutes.
