Open the series

I started photographing the fir valley in 2013, the autumn after I moved home. I did not know it would take eleven years.

Every October I walked up the same road before dawn and waited for the fog to come down off the slopes. Some years it came every morning. One year it did not come at all, and I went home with nothing.

The series is not really about the trees. It is about how fog changes what you can see, and how a place you think you know can turn strange in ten minutes.

In 2023 the prints were shown at the Ravnsund Kunsthall. In spring 2027 they travel to Kunsthall Vestby, in a group show with five other photographers.

From the notebook

The road was the first frame I made, in 2013, and the last one I printed. It took me ten years to see it.
