Weather Coast
Skarv Outdoor Co. · Seascape · 2024 · Frames 9
A winter of storms on the outer coast, photographed for Skarv Outdoor Co. and then for myself. Waves, lighthouses, and the few calm days between them.
The storms arrive from the west about once a week in winter. I learned to drive toward them.
Skarv Outdoor Co. wanted pictures of their jackets in real weather. We made those in two days. Then I kept going back to the same harbor wall and the same headland for the rest of the winter, without a jacket in the frame.
The big wave at the lighthouse was made from three hundred meters away with a long lens, from inside the car. The wave in the wetsuit was made on a calm day in July, which tells you how the summer went.
Four of these prints hang in the Skarv shop in Ravnsund, if you want to see them at size.
“We asked for a product shoot and got a winter. The catalog has never looked so cold, or sold so well.”
