Living with a painting.

Care, from the studio

Framing Framed or with bare edges

Most canvases have painted edges and hang well without a frame. If you want one, Ashby and Rowe in Wrenhaven make plain oak frames for my work.

Light Keep it out of the sun

Oil paint likes daylight but not direct sun. A wall across from a window is best. Avoid the wall above a radiator or a fire.

Shipping A crate for every original

Originals travel in a wooden crate, insured and tracked. Prints ship flat in a stiff mailer, or rolled in a tube for the largest size.

Questions from collectors.

Buying a painting is a big step. These are the questions people ask before they take it.

  1. Can I see a painting before I buy it?

Yes. Most originals hang in the net loft or at North Quay Gallery. Write first, and I will tell you where each one is.

  2. Can I pay in parts?

Yes, for originals over $1,500. Pay a third to reserve it and the rest over three months. The painting ships when the last part is paid.

  3. What if it does not suit the room?

Send it back within fourteen days, in its crate, for a full refund. You pay the shipping back.

  4. Is a print a good place to start?

Many collectors start with a giclee print. Every print is signed in pencil, and some are numbered editions.

  5. Does an original come with a certificate?

Yes. Each one has a signed certificate with the title, the size, the year, and the materials.
