Season Winter 2026

One canvas, from the cliff path to the wall

Storm Coast, No. 3 · six steps · one week
  1. 01 Shot 01 Day 1

A red rock headland reaches into flat blue water under a pale sky.

    EWS Extreme wide Pan right

Walk the cliff path and look. No brush yet. Pick the rock the wave will hit.

  2. 02 Shot 02 Day 1

Surf pours between two dark rocks while spray rises behind them.

    WS Wide Static

A small board on site. Twenty minutes, before the hands go cold.

  3. 03 Shot 03 Day 2

A green storm light over a rocky bay, with a pale break in the clouds.

    MS Medium Zoom in

Back in the loft. A ground of raw umber, then the big shapes in one dark color.

  4. 04 Shot 04 Day 3

A far white sail on a gray sea above a band of dark red rocks.

    WS Wide Track right

The sky in one sitting, from one gray mixed in a jar.

  5. 05 Shot 05 Day 5

A wave bursts white over a black rock ledge under a gray sky.

    CU Close-up Dolly in

Foam last: cold wax and white, laid on with a knife and dragged once.

  6. 06 Shot 06 Day 7

Gray waves break over dark rocks below a low, heavy sky.

    FS Full Static

It dries on the loft wall for a week before anyone else sees it.

What is on the long table

The Long Table · 90 × 120 cm · 2025
Grapes, peaches, and a silver pitcher on a table under a dark red curtain.
Oil on linen · painted by the north window over one winter
  1. 01 The silver cup

Painted in one hour, in three grays and one white. Silver is only the room, reflected.

  2. 02 The red curtain

Thin glazes of alizarin over a brown ground. It took six layers to look heavy.

  3. 03 Green grapes

Each grape is a dark, a light, and one dot of white. Nothing more.

  4. 04 The pomegranate

The only pure red on the canvas, so it is where the eye stops last.

  5. 05 Shells

Borrowed from the harbor wall, and given back the next morning.

Ten weeks for one studio canvas.
