About Teo.
Ravnsund, Norway · Since 2012
I am a landscape and nature photographer. I live on the coast of northern Norway, and I work slowly, on long series about single places.

I grew up in Ravnsund, a fishing town of four thousand people on the coast of northern Norway, and I still live two streets from the harbor.
I started out photographing buildings for an architecture studio. It taught me patience, straight lines, and how to come back on a better day. In 2018 I spent my first winter in Iceland, and I have worked on landscapes ever since.
I work on one place at a time, for as long as it takes. Some series take a season. Fog Season took eleven years. I print everything myself, in a small studio above the old net loft on the harbor, and I sell the prints in small editions.
When I am not in the field, I take commissions for magazines and outdoor brands, and I run two small workshops on the coast each year.
Fourteen years, in numbers.

How the black beach was made
Black Sand · No. 2 · South coast
-
01 The two sea stacks
I moved fifty meters along the beach until the stacks stood clear of the cliff, with sky between them.
-
02 A flat, gray sky
I waited for cloud. A blue sky would have pulled the eye away from the shore.
-
03 The wave line
A quarter of a second blurs the surf just enough. I made forty frames to get one clean line.
-
04 Wet black sand
Low tide leaves a thin film of water that holds a little of the sky. Two hours later it was gone.

From editors and clients.
Three of many-
“Teo sent eleven huts instead of eight, and none of them had a hut in the picture. It was the best story we ran that year.”
Petra Lunde Photo editor · Fjellvind Journal -
“He asked for six weeks when we offered two. We said yes, and the issue sold out in a month.”
Oskar Brandt Editor · Terrain Quarterly -
“Working with Teo on Black Sand was slow in the best way. He sequenced the book three times before he was happy, and he was right each time.”
Ada Rønning Publisher · Northline Editions
