The first series I ever showed. Three paintings of the wood above the town, where the oaks are older than the harbor.
Before the net loft, I painted in the wood because it was free and nobody watched. The oaks there are three or four hundred years old.
These three were in my first show at the Arts Center in 2022. All three sold, and that is how I paid the first year of rent on the studio.

Plates 03 The Old Wood · 2022

Bark is a pattern you can not copy. I paint the big shapes of light and shadow and let a dry brush find the texture. The brush knows more about bark than I do.

“A young painter who already knows when to stop. That is rare.”
