If the sky looks clear, I drive to the ridge or the shore and walk the last hour with a headlamp on red. Most nights the cloud comes in before midnight and I walk back down with nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Every frame here is one exposure, with no stacking and no sky from another night. The star trail is one frame too: three hours with the shutter open and the camera wrapped in a hat so the lens did not frost.<\/p>\n<p>The storm over the island was the only night in the series that was not planned. I was there for the stars.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\n\n<section class=\"kurato-quote kurato-wrap kurato-panel wp-block-kurato-quote\">\n\t<blockquote>\n\t\t<p>\u201cThe cold is the easy part.
